ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of tandospirone combined with venlafaxine in the treatment of comorbid anxiety and depression and its effects on neurotransmitters and related factors. Methods:A total of 92 patients with comorbid anxiety and depression who received treatment in the Second People's Hospital of Lishui between June 2019 and June 2020 were included in this study. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group ( n = 46/group). The control group was treated with venlafaxine, while the observation group was treated with tandospirone and venlafaxine. Before and after treatment, the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), the levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, nerve growth factor, and adverse drug reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:At 4 and 8 weeks after treatment, HAMA scores in the observation group were (11.39 ± 3.11) points and (8.26 ± 2.18) points, respectively, which were significantly lower than (14.72 ± 3.57) points and (10.46 ± 2.37) points in the control group ( t = 4.77, 4.63, both P < 0.05). At 4 and 8 weeks after treatment, HAMD scores in the observation group were (15.95 ± 2.90) points and (9.33 ± 1.54) points, respectively, which were significantly lower than (17.43 ± 2.87) points and (13.28 ± 2.65) points in the control group ( t = 2.46, 8.74, both P < 0.05). After treatment, 5-hydroxytryptamine, nerve growth factor, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in the observation group were (154.59 ± 45.26) μg/L, (13.62 ± 1.16) ng/L, (28.54 ± 2.33) ng/L, respectively, which were significantly higher than (129.99 ± 48.31) μg/L, (11.98 ± 1.04) ng/L, and (25.69 ± 2.51) ng/L in the control group ( t = 2.52, 7.14, 5.64, all P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups ( χ2 = 0.81, P = 0.369). Conclusion:The adjuvant treatment with tandospirone can markedly improve anxiety and depression and protect neurological function of patients with comorbid anxiety and depression, and is highly safe.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of anlotinib combined with PD-1 blockades for patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Methods A retrospective study was performed, enrolling 33 patients with advanced EOC who failed standard systematic therapy. All patients were administered with anlotinib combined with PD-1 blockades. The efficacy and safety profile were determined during treatment. Results The objective response rate of the 33 patients was 36.4% (95%CI: 20.4%-54.9%) and the disease control rate of the patients was 81.8% (95%CI: 64.5%-90.0%). The median PFS and OS of the 33-patient cohort were 7.6 months (95%CI: 3.1-12.1) and 19.6 months (95%CI: 15.1-24.1), respectively. The most common treatment-related adverse reactions were fatigue (66.7%), nausea and vomiting (54.5%), hypertension (48.5%), and diarrhea (39.4%). Furthermore, multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that ECOG performance status and FIGO stage were independent factors for predicting the PFS of the combination regimen for patients with advanced EOC. Conclusion Anlotinib combined with PD-1 blockades preliminarily exhibit satisfactory efficacy and tolerable safety profile for patients with advanced EOC.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the serological feature and molecular mechanism for a case with A307 subgroup of the ABO blood group system.@*METHODS@#Serological assay was carried out to determine the ABO blood group of the proband and his family members. Genotypes for exons 1 to 7 of the ABO gene were determined with sequence-specific primer polymerase chain reaction (SSP-PCR) and direct sequencing. The impact of the variant on the stability of alpha-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase (GTA) was predicted through construction of a 3D molecular model.@*RESULTS@#The proband, his brother and daughter were diagnosed with Aend phenotype by serological analysis. Their ABO genotype was determined as A307/O02, with heterozygous c.467C>T (p.P156L) and c.745C>T (p.R249W) variants identified in exon 7 of the ABO gene. Molecular modeling suggested that the p.R249W variant may alter the number of hydrogen bonds between the amino acids. The protein was predicted to have a decreased Δ Δ G value of thermodynamic stability.@*CONCLUSION@#The p.R249W variant may give rise to the A307 subgroup by reducing the stability of the GTA enzyme, leading to serological features of Aend phenotype.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore blood lead level and associated factors among preschool children in Haikou city, and to provide a reference for early detection and timely intervention of children’s lead poisoning.@*Methods@#Stratified random cluster sampling method was used to select 22 038 children from 23 kindergartens in Haikou city from 2015 to 2018. Blood lead level was examined and a questionnaire survey was conducted.@*Results@#The average blood lead level was 22.45 μg/L, with 22.55 μg/L for boys, 23.33 μg/L for girls, 23.09 μg/L for 3-year-old group, 22.13 μg/L for 4-year-old group, 22.58 μg/L for 5-year-old, and 22.10 μg/L for 6-year-old. On average, about 0.50% of the total children was found of high blood lead level, the prevalence decreased by year during 2015-2018 which was 0.80%, 0.62%, 0.47%, and 0.11%, respectively. The high blood lead rate was 0.45% for boys, 0.57% for girls, 0.46% for 3-year-old, 0.37% for 4-year-old, 0.61% for 5-year-old, and 0.56% for 6-year-old. Hyperactivity, inattention, anorexia, frail disease, stomach ache, pale and anemia was found higher in high lead group and 50~99 μg/L group than those in 0~49 μg/L group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that mother’s occupational exposure to lead was positively correlated with children’s high blood lead level. Frequent toy cleaning and outings were negatively correlated with high blood lead levels in children.@*Conclusion@#The high blood lead level of children is closely related to some factors, such as,their living condition, living habits and so on.Theretore,a regular detection of blood lead should be conducted. Parents should be educated about childhood lead poisoning, as well the need to prevent and intervene in daily life.
